Glencore Coal Assets have a number of opportunities opening to graduating or recently graduated university students to join our Graduate Logistics / Commercial Officer Program. About the role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be provided with a stimulating and challenging work environment with exposure to developing your skills across a broad range of disciplines including commercial, finance, logistics and legal.

The primary purpose of your role is to support and contribute to a team that is involved in the operational and commercial aspects of moving coal from mines to customers. This small but high performing team administers all of Glencore Coal Australia's commercial relationships with the Port, Track and Haulage service providers for our Australian Operations. You will assist in administering coal chain contracts, ensuring compliance, from performance through to payment verification. You will be involved in the planning and implementation of both short and long term strategies to optimise coal flow and secure coal chain capacity.

Renowned for being a team player with a 'can-do' attitude, your skills include a high attention to detail. You are a self-starter with excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills and an ability to learn quickly. Working with the logistics operations and commercial teams you will need to prioritise tasks, work autonomously at times, while maintaining positive relationships with relevant stakeholders, including Glencore mine sites and various coal chain organisations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • You have (or near completion of) tertiary (degree level) qualifications in Commerce, Law, Business or Logistics (or a related field).
  • A high level of MS Office capability is required, as well as an understanding of Contract Law concepts.
  • Exposure to mining, manufacturing or other businesses with a large logistics solution will be looked upon favourably.
  • You have sound numerical, written and verbal communication skills and logical problem-solving capacity and the ability to multi-task.
