What's your role in the department?
As a Policy Officer in the Market Policy team, my responsibilities include supporting the development of an early childhood education and care market stewardship policy, preparing briefs and responses to ministerial correspondence, working with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting the different streams of work in my team, such as the financial viability assessments and a market monitoring framework.
What's been the highlight of your experience in the Graduate Program?
A key highlight of the program was the two five-month rotations. I was able to explore working in different sections of the department, develop varied knowledge and skills, and discover what stream of work I enjoy most. The dual placements offered a different perspective of the department and allowed me to find my best fit.
What tips do you have for future grads considering the education program?
The Education Graduate Program is multi-dimensional; you can experience two rotations in completely different areas and earn a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration at the University of Canberra. You will finish the program with new skills and knowledge in several, competing areas.
