Training has been good so far. Would be good to be involved in training over the years rather than all in the first year of employment.

Company offers formal training opportunities including arranging professional development courses Informal training is also offered frequently, such as arranging to speak with a Subject Matter Expert to gain insight into how different technical fields work

I have had the most wonderful program manager, who has provided all of the required information for a defence induction. Defence has a lot of specific paperwork and procedures, and she has made it incredibly easy for me to begin working and learn all the required procedures. This was accomplished during a 1 week long induction.
Graduate, Canberra - 04 Apr 2022
The first week is a dedicated induction week which provided all the necessary information to get started.

The training and development is quite incredible, the role is to become subject matter experts so any opportunity to put us on training courses is given immediately. Access to defence conferences is also all paid for. We get to go on specific Navy training on the ships as well as other uniformed defence courses. The program offers a free masters program at the UNSW as well which is an amazing opportunity.
Graduate, Canberra - 04 Apr 2022
Quite a lot of online training required for the job, which is not the greatest quality and quite outdated. However, the training is well established and does the job.
Graduate, Sydney - 04 Apr 2022
There is a lot of opportunity for training with defence and with Navy. The grad program provides a lot of structured training for all the grads and also allows for individuals to pursue their own training if it is relevant to the work that they are doing.
