Our Science Digital initiative is a rare opportunity to be a part of remaking the process of scientific discovery by enhancing research, development and commercialisation with artificial intelligence.

From the formation of a hypothesis to the design and running of an experiment, AI can both accelerate and alter the process of inquiry.  

This is your opportunity to reinvigorate new Machine Learning methods for scientific discoveries and have your research directly impact real-world problems. Some of the key areas where you will play a pivotal role at enhancing our Machine Learning capabilities are within, but not limited to, representation learning, adaptive sampling, and reinforcement learning.

Overview of who we are looking for

CSIRO aim to recruit a cohort of Science Digital CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral and Engineering Fellowships. These fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate or masters degree and have less than three years relevant postdoctoral or postmasters work experience.

We expect the Science Digital CERC Fellows to learn and grow to become agile researchers by the end of this project. We will embed the Science Digital CERC Fellows into the Data61 Science Digital ecosystem, where they will have a supporting and enriching experience.

Locations available across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or remote where requirements can be met. If the below sounds like you then please apply now to express your interest!

  • Experience in machine learning and the ability to develop and apply new mathematically founded machine learning algorithms.
  • Completed their doctorate or masters degree and have less than three years relevant postdoctoral or postmasters work experience relevant field such as engineering, applied mathematics, physics, computer science or statistics.
  • Experience developing machine learning software in high-level programming languages such as Python or C++.
