Our Pawsey Summer Internship Program is run over the Australian summer holidays. This Program offers high achieving and promising undergraduate students the opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers, using Pawsey's world-class facilities.

Students will have the chance to work on a real project in science, technology and/or computing. Placements are full time and typically begin in late November or early December and are 10 weeks in length.

Participation in the Pawsey Summer Internship Program has influenced previous scholarship holders in their choice of further study and future career options. Many have gone on to pursue a PhD in CSIRO or a partner institution, or to build a successful research career within CSIRO, a university or industry.

Like last year, this year's Pawsey Summer Internship Program will focus on research projects targeting:

  • Computational science
  • Large-scale simulations
  • Data science
  • Large-scale data processing
  • Grand Challenge problems^
  • Machine learning
  • Accelerated computing^^
  • (Big) Data visualisation

^ Projects focused on making a significant impact on a given scientific computing discipline
^^ Projects making use of GPUs, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing, code optimisation, data storage and retrieval, etc.

I have loved the diversity of working at CSIRO. There are so many opportunities for collaboration across science, both within CSIRO and externally, with universities, government, and industry.
