Culture at Cochlear

8.7
8.7 rating for Culture, based on 19 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Everyone is conscious of the work we do and how we impact recipients' lives. As such, everybody is happy to help you and will often refer you to someone else who can better answer your question. There is an understanding of office hours with people respecting if you are unavailable to work or need to leave early that day. Colleagues are fun and easy to socialize with at Cochlear.

In office, communication is very open and socialising is encouraged (group lunches often). We are always able to ask for help and raise any issues we're facing with our managers with trust and confidence. However, our managers can be quite time poor but we just have to schedule meetings around them.

Cochlear has a very friendly culture. Different from the other organisations I've interned/worked at, the average employment tenure at Cochlear is notably long. It's common for employees to spend 10-15 years at Cochlear. The working hours are also very reasonable. The result is that people at Cochlear become close friends over several years working together. The global headquarters is on the Macquarie University campus, its very common to run into other staff at the ubar balcony or food court.

Cochlear's company culture is like no other I've experienced before. It is very motivating, supportive, collaborative and fun. We have regular team building activities both during work and after hours which I really enjoy.

Everyone's striving for the best, but people forget to have fun

The team is very social and easy going. All recruiters are a joy to work with. The team hosts regular outings after hours to celebrate birthdays etc. There is a hierarchy, but it still feels very flat, and I am comfortable approaching anyone in the team. Lots of cooperation, teamwork, and always willing to help.

Graduate hours are very good, however seems that higher ups have longer hours. Hierarchy is not evident and everyone is very approachable and helpful. Great teamwork. Graduates have good socialising, but not really anything set up by the company. Limited benefits such as gym memberships, or free coffees, or social events organised by the company.

Mostly good cooperation, teamwork and socialisation amongst colleagues. Structure and hierarchy is typical but sometimes it seems that external applicants are considered for roles before internal employees are considered for promotions.

The culture at Cochlear is fantastic. Everyone is incredibly supportive and friendly which makes it easier for any new employees to feel at ease. Furthermore, the structure is quite flat and this makes it easier for junior employees to communicate with more senior stakeholders.

Good culture - good work life balance. People really care about the work without letting it run their lives. Good leadership at all levels. People are generally good communitors and work well together. Socialising amongst graduates is good, not many social events run department or team wise.
