Designed for Penultimate Year Students graduating by January 2024, our 12-week Summer Internship Programme commences in November 2022 and will base out of our Melbourne, Perth and Auckland sites. It is the perfect opportunity for you to immerse yourself in bp and gain invaluable insight as to what it will be like in our Graduate Programme.
As a bp Intern, youโll gain insight into the real world of business. Youโll execute and deliver a multi-discipline role within a team environment which will ultimately contribute to the achievement of bpโs reimagined strategy. Our internships will be in a range of different teams within the Commercial, Sales & Marketing and Finance disciplines. Youโll experience on-the-job learning along with curated development training to suit your role.
Youโll become part of a collaborative and inclusive workplace as you build on your technical and interpersonal skills. Working across teams and functions, youโll enjoy access to some of the most talented people in their fields. Within our internship space, weโre looking for individuals with foundational knowledge in business analysis, modelling and strategy.
As a bp intern, you will have an interest and/or skill in delivering economic value back to a business, identifying solutions and strategies resulting in cost savings and a natural negotiation style. No matter where you work at BP, youโll be valued, included and respected. Weโll provide you with ongoing support and weโll reward you for the great work you do.
You will be a Penultimate Year Student graduating by January 2024 with well-rounded life experiences. Your strong academic results will be supported by some work experience - everything from customer service to industry experience is great! Youโll have strong organisational skills and the ability to deliver results in a collaborative environment. Your agility to learn and adapt will be key along with the energy, motivation and ownership to make the most of this fantastic opportunity.
You must be comfortable making courageous and bold decisions have digital fluency, and have a keen eye for analytics and the insights they provide. Youโll have career aspirations within a customer-centric and innovative convenience & retail business within a leading Integrated Energy Company.

I have been very fortunate to work on a variety of projects throughout my time on the grad program. These projects have allowed me to develop a diverse set of skills and get a strong understanding of the bp business. I have also been given lots of opportunities to work with a range of people from different areas of the business and expand my professional networks.

Nothing really! I would say, though, that the graduate program would be good if it were three years. I am finding that a lot of the graduates below me are grasping an understanding of the business in the first year and then going into their second year and rolling off.
A little bit disjointed in the sense that there are people from all over the organization making requests from you via email. I feel that task requests should only really come from the line manager or a member of your appropriate team.
Being forced to attend the office 60/40. I enjoy working in the office but would highly prefer this to be a personal decision, not enforced from top-down. Lack of salary transparency.
Starting as a graduate, it was challenging when other team members weren't in the office to learn off due to working from home.
While it is fantastic that BP is such a large business with many opportunities for growth, that benefit also has a flip side. Working in a diverse business can make it hard to specialize or focus on areas of interest, especially in the early stages of your career. This is due to two factors: 1. People with diverse experience are highly valued, so you are often encouraged to take a generalist approach to your career. 2. It can take time for roles in your desired area to come up.
